3 Mindsets that Work Against Weight Loss

How many times have you tried to lose weight? How many times did you say: "That's it, I'm doing it right this time!" - an never went through with it?

You know that the problem is in your head - the food doesn't control you, it should be the other way round. But the goal of permanently losing weight remains unreachable.

Take a deep look inside your mind and see if you have any of these mindset detours.

1. Wishful Thinking

Are you one of those people who always wish to lose weight, to be fitter and thinner, but it always stays in the realm of wishes?

If so, chances are that you're never going to make any progress. You have to do more than just wishing - you need to step up and do something if you want to change your situation. You can however use your wishes as a way to stay focused on your goal - turn them into "meaty" visualizations that will help you to stay driven... but you need to start actually doing something that will make your wish come true.

2. Thinking Negatively

A positive weight loss mindset is a prerequisite for success. If you start your diet every time thinking that you won't make it - you will be right. That is, you will prove yourself right.

Stop waking up every day fearing your food choices and your workout. Instead, start waking up with hope and optimism and try to look at the hard choices you have to make as something that will improve and enrich your life experience.

To make the switch from negative to positive weight loss attitude you may want to try some external help, like subliminal weight loss audio (the one linked from here is free to download). These audios can help a lot in changing the negative thinking patterns that prevent you from achieving success - try them, they certainly can't hurt.

3. Short Term Goals

In times when going forward gets tough, you'll use the reasons why you're working on losing weight as a motivator. These reasons must be absolutely important to you, or they will serve no purpose.

Short term goals, like losing weight for summer or until you find a boyfriend, won't do when it gets tough - and they certainly won't do in the long run. Once the summer is gone or you find a boyfriend, you'll probably go back to your old habits.

Instead, try to find motivation in something bigger than weight loss. A healthy lifestyle is a great motivator, and it will make losing weight just a piece of the bigger picture that will come naturally as you proceed with your healthy lifestyle.

Another long term motivator that could work for you could simply be to spend more quality time with your friends and family - as you become fitter, you'll have more energy to devote to your loved ones.

Think about it!
